The HAFCO Metalmaster BS-5V Portable Swivel Head Metal Cutting Band Saw (order code: B004) is a clever choice for the smaller workshop where space is at a premium. It boasts plenty of capacity for most home model engineers and can be relied on to deliver an accurate cut every time.

With a compact, portable design weighing only 23kg, this band saw is constructed mainly from cast aluminium and steel. It has a very rigid base, 110mm high working table and saw bow frame that enables a high degree of tension to be applied to the blade.

The blade itself measures 1440 x 12.7 x 0.65mm (L x W x T). It’s firmly steered by adjustable double ball-bearing blade roller guides with built-in protection. These also give rigidity to the part of the blade necessary to make the cut. The Metalmaster BS-5V also features the ability to adjust its blade guide and tension.

A quiet-running, direct drive 1kW (1.3Hp) 240V motor offers electronically variable speeds between 30-80 meters per minute controlled via a dial. Blade speed can be adjusted to suit the task in hand. In case of emergency, the HAFCO band saw is fitted with a safety magnetic main power switch.

The conveniently located start trigger switch on the operational handle, in tandem with a spring return system, supports the weight of the bow during operation.

The whole bow and motor assembly can be swivelled from 0° to 60°, using the calibrated vice, to create accurate mitre cuts. Thanks to cutting angle adjustment, the BS-5V is capable of the following:

This HAFCO Metalmaster band saw sports an adjustable material length stop for repetition cutting. A material chart attached to the machine features a tooth per inch (tpi) rating system for proper blade selection according to the type of material to be cut and its diameter.
